Carman Dufferin Fire Department (CDFD) responded to a number of incidents this week.

On Monday, September 21, the CDFD was dispatched to a possible fire on a farm in the RM of Dufferin. Workers on site were able to use machinery to contain the fire before the crew's arrival. Firefighters sprayed water around the silage pile and bale stacks to prevent any flare ups.

Then just after 9:00 p.m the same day the CDFD was called out for a second time, this time to an unknown fire in the Town of Carman. It was determined the fire to be caused by improper disposal of fuel. There were no damages.
The CDFD urges people to use common sense before lighting any fires and adhere to local bylaws.

On Wednesday, September 23, the CDFD was dispatched to reports of smoke in a commercial building in Carman.

Officials say light smoke was found in the main office area which became more noticeable in the adjoining bathroom. Firefighters removed the suspended ceiling to check for any extension and disconnect the fan. Fortunately staff in the building alerted 911 before it could spread too far.
