Despite firing 60 shots on the Norman goal, the Pembina Valley Hawks fell 3-2 to the Wild Sunday afternoon in Morden, for their first regular season loss of this young season.

"We struggled today with finding the back of the net," said Hawks captain Mackenzie Hutchinson. "We had about 60 shots, but when you can't find the net, you just can't find the net."

Norman's captain Kali Cummings got the visiting team on the board first with the help of Amery Beardy and Carrigan Umpherville.

Brooklyn Platt knotted the game up at one, with her first of two, in the middle frame. Emily Daniels beat Kadynce Romijn, who made 15 saves in the loss, to make it 2-1.

In the third Megan Quesnel put the Wild up 3-1 with just over eight minutes left to play in the game. Platt brought Pembina Valley within one, but they weren't able to get the tieing goal in the final minute of action.

"They are a team that are a thorn in your side. They aren't going to quit and that's when we have to take note and keep pushing hard," said Pembina Valley coach Dana Bell.

The Hawks are now 4-1 on the season, and will hit the road next weekend for a pair of games against the Winnipeg Avros and Yellowhead Chiefs, Saturday and Sunday respectively.
