Local municipalities are throwing their support behind a proposal to pave PR 332 north of Rosenfeld.

The communities want the road designated as an alternate route that could be used when Highway 75 is closed due to flooding.

Altona Chamber of Commerce President Vic Loewen says six municipalities found consensus on the idea at a meeting yesterday.

Loewen says they will begin preparing a presentation on the proposal which will be presented to the province shortly.

Paving PR 332 resurfaced as an issue when truck traffic had to be rerouted to either Highway 59 east of the Red River of Highway 3 to the west.
