An engineer study was conducted earlier this year on the trestle bridge located behind the Boyne Lodge in the Town of Carman. Overall the inspection came back saying the bridge was in pretty good shape. However the structure supporting rails are starting to deteriorate and will need to be upgraded in the near future.

"Just because it is an old railway trestle bridge we had it inspected, the report says that the substructure and the pilings are all in good shape and could last for another twenty years," said Deputy Mayor of Carman Brent Owen.

The bridge is often used by dog walkers and those looking to cross from one side of town to the other. Owen noted that the current upgrades needed will not affect the safety of the structure for now, and a plan has been put into place with the town foreman and will be initiated with better weather in the spring.
