Police have charged an 18-year-old female with fraud, false pretences, and theft after the owner of a business suspected an employee of embezzling funds from the company.  The female employee was hired in March of 2016 and shortly thereafter, unusual transactions were noted on the debit machine as well as some transaction records were found in the garbage.  The employee was approached by the owner who questioned her actions, but the employee continued to operate in the same manner.   The owner continued to monitor the employee and later found transaction records thrown in the garbage dumpster.  Records showed that the employee had defrauded the company of just over $1500.00 as well as having taken several items from the store.  The R.M. of Grey resident will be appearing in Morden Provincial Court in November.

Police have a Warrant for Arrest for 20-year-old Vanessa Barbara Woods of Swan Lake, Manitoba.  Woods was to appear in court September 27th on charges of Theft under $5000.00 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, but failed to do so.  As a result, a Warrant for Arrest was issued by the courts.  Anyone with information regarding Woods’ whereabouts is asked to call the Morden Police Service at 822-4900, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, submit a secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com or text “TIPMAN” plus your message to CRIMES (274637).

Police also have a Warrant for Arrest for 29-year-old Joel Mckinnon Perks of Beausejour, Manitoba.  On July 26th, Perks was arrested by the Morden Police Serve for one count of Breach Recognizance and one count of Drive While Disqualified.  He was released on a Promise to Appear at Morden Provincial Court on September 27th, 2016 but failed to do so.  A Warrant was issued for his arrest by the courts.  Anyone with information regarding Perks’ whereabouts is asked to call the Morden Police Service at 822-4900, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, submit a secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com or text “TIPMAN” plus your message to CRIMES (274637).

Two kayaks were stolen from a storage shed located near the Morden Dam.  The owner had the kayaks locked in the shed and was checking on them periodically.  Nothing appeared unusual until the owner attempted to use his key to unlock the shed one day and it would not work.  The owner broke the lock to find that the kayaks were removed and another locked was placed on the shed.  The kayaks are described as a Pelican brand from Canadian Tire; one was green and the other yellow.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Morden Police Service at 822-4900, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, submit a secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com or text “TIPMAN” plus your message to CRIMES (274637).

Police were called to a resident around 3:20 am regarding a domestic dispute.  The female requested that her fiancé be removed from the residence because they were arguing.  The couple had a disagreement over an issue in their relationship that escalated to an argument and voices being raised.  There was no evidence or reports of any threats or assaults.  Police mediated the situation and departed once the situation was under control.  There were no charges as a result of this incident.

September 30th, 2016

At 4:30 pm, police received a 911 call of a domestic dispute at a residence.  Police attended to learn that the couple was having issues and the wife was attempting to move herself along with some of her belonging out of the home.  Family was there to help with moving some of the items and the husband became upset with this.  Words were exchanged and the husband was quite agitated.  Police remained on scene to ensure the situation did not escalate.  There were no charges as a result of this incident.

September 30th, 2016

Police were called to a family dispute at a room in the Star Motel.  A husband and wife along with their 29-year-old son, were in Morden to help a family member move.  The son had consumed several drinks during the day and was now intoxicated and causing problems.  The family wanted the son removed, but there was no other family or friends where he could stay.  Police spoke with the son who was intoxicated and arrested him under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act to avoid further incidents.  He was lodged in cells overnight until sober and released in the morning without charges.

October 2nd, 2016

Alcohol again was the cause of yet another domestic dispute.  Police received a 911 call around 8:20 pm from a female indicating her husband was intoxicated and causing problems.  Police attended and spoke with the wife who disclosed that her husband usually does not drink but tonight, he consumed several drinks and then became argumentative.  The husband eventually left the home but returned a short time later because he had nowhere to stay.  Police spoke with the couple and it appeared the husband was more in control now after taking a walk.  The couple decided that it was best to go to sleep for the night and talk about the situation in the morning.  No further action was required by police.
