The Dennis County Development Partnership is the latest group to join the effort to attract a soybean crushing facility to western Manitoba.

The group is made up of the RM of Wallace-Woodworth, the RM of Pipestone and Town of Virden.

“The Dennis County Development Partnership is looking forward to working with the Leadership Group to attract a global company to construct a soybean processing facility, and are pleased to provide financial support to help make this happen”, stated James Watt, the Partnership’s designate.

Ray Redfern is the chair for the Westman Opportunities Leadership Group, the organization spearheading the effort.

He explained where progress stands at this point.

"We've done an early assessment of the anticipated costs of building or even the infrastructure needed for a plant, so that narrows downs the uncertainty for communities about what kind of infrastructure needs are going to be expected by a proponent."

Redfern notes while their group is based in western Manitoba, they would be pleased to see a plant go up anywhere in the province.
