Health Canada is proposing a phase out of the product known as Matador (Lambda-cyhalothrin), which is a widely used foliar insecticide.

It helps fight pests such as flea beetles, cutworms, bertha armyworms and diamondback moths.

The Manitoba Canola Growers Association says losing this tool would have a significant impact on the canola sector, and is urging farmers to voice their opinions.

The Pest Management Regulatory Agency is accepting comments on the proposed ban until September 21, 2017.
