Herbicide resistance is becoming more of a problem for producers.

As a result more and more producers are looking at herbicide layering.

Saskatchewan Regional Crop Specialist Cory Jacobs says herbicide layering means using two or three herbicides together in a tank mix or in sequence to tackle hard to control weeds.

"Really it's not a silver bullet solution but it's another tool growers can use with other options and integrated weed management to manage herbicide resistant weeds and then to delay the onset of herbicide resistance in their fields as much as possible," he said.

Jacobs notes it’s important that farmers take the time to read the product labels so they are using the right compatible products, for the right job and on the right crop.
