Manitoba Agriculture & Resource Development Minister Blaine Pedersen says the province will participate in the AgriRecovery program announced last month.

"We have signed on with the federal government on the AgriRecovery, this is the beef set-aside that Alberta and Saskatchewan have already signed up for," he said. "Manitoba producers are eligible for the 60 per cent federal contribution."

Pedersen says he's working with the federal government on the ability for Manitoba to come up with the money for the provincial share. A decision is expected soon.

On May 5, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced $125 million towards AgriRecovery, with $50 slated for a beef set-aside program.
