Potato harvest is right around the corner.

Vikram Bisht with Manitoba Agriculture expects harvest in most areas to get underway in about two to three weeks.

He notes a lack of moisture was a concern this year.

"In most cases, irrigation is available but those fields which do not have irrigation, they have been hurt," says Bisht.

Late Blight has been confirmed in a number of fields in central Manitoba. Cases were discovered in the Municipality of Norfolk Treherne as well as in the RM of Stanley and Municipality of Rhineland. Bisht says in some cases, the disease has been been spreading to neighbouring fields, which has been a concern.

Aphids have also been an issue in some seed potato fields. Bisht notes blackleg and stem rot disease have also been observed, but is not as bad as last year.
