Much of the soybean crop in Manitoba is expected reach full maturity over the next couple of weeks.

That from Cassandra Tkachuk, production specialist with Manitoba Pulse and Soybean Growers (MPSG).

She says as we move further along into September, there is a chance that frost could become a factor.

"Soybeans affected by frost at the R6.5 stage can experience yield loss of up to 30 per cent and this is when some of the seeds are still green. However, once soybeans reach the R7 stage, frost will have little impact on yield and quality."

Tkachuk notes that most of the soybeans are approaching the R7 stage, with some already having reached full maturity (R8).

Producers are encouraged to use the MPSG Bean App to estimate projected soybean yields.
