Agriculture in the Classroom Manitoba (AITC-MB) showcased some of its work last Thursday during its annual meeting.

Board President Kelly Funke said they had about 50 people in attendance at Richardson's Kelburn Farm south of Winnipeg.

She said the work they do throughout the year would not be possible without the help of the many volunteers.

"In 2016, there were 972 volunteers and so those folks participated in events like the Amazing Agriculture Adventure, in Canadian Ag Literacy Month activities, where they would go into classrooms, and Made in Manitoba Breakfasts. There's nothing quite like a real farmer talking to students to impress upon them where their food comes from."

Funke notes that last year they reached 170 schools across the province.

Rosanne Massinon, a teacher at Carman Collegiate, was the recipient of this year's Teacher Driver Award.

The entire AITC-MB board was re-elected for another term.
