G3 Weather and Crop Specialist Bruce Burnett says the mild conditions we're experiencing should continue for at least the next few days.

He notes it's expected to cool down this week, but temperatures will still be above normal.

It's exactly the type of weather farmers are looking for.

“There is flooding concerns because the snowpack is quite heavy," commented Burnett. "These conditions however are also ideal because what we're seeing is a lot of warmth in the day, but freezing fairly substantially in the evening. So that's reducing the snowpack but it's not causing a quick melt by any means.”

Burnett says it's the type of scenario we need to avoid significant flooding in the eastern side of the Prairies.
