Deciding whether or not to apply a fungicide can be a difficult decision for farmers.

David Kaminski with Manitoba Agriculture had this advice.

"Is it a good looking crop already that's really worth protecting?" he said. "If it's patchy and under stress, you may not think about investing more money at this time but a crop that does look decent and you've put the money into it already, that's when you think about, 'are diseases present or on the horizon and should I be ready with a fungicide intervention?'"

Kaminski says they have been seeing some root rot in peas and soybeans.
