Agriculture in the Classroom (AITC) Canada hosted its national AGM and sharing session this week in Winnipeg. The event was held at the Radisson Hotel and at Richardson's Kelburn Farm south of Winnipeg.

Officials from the national and provincial organizations took part in the meetings.

Tenesha Lawson is the communications coordinator with AITC Manitoba.

She explained what it meant to host this year's event.

"It's really awesome to bring all of the organizations across the country home to Manitoba. It's great because every province has something to offer. We ended up hosting a session and sharing what's unique to Manitoba and how awesome our volunteers, our partners, and our teachers are, and really share what's going on here. It's nice to learn about other provinces but it's even better to host it because we have a lot to celebrate here."

Lawson says that demand for the programs they offer far exceeds what they are able to provide.

She notes in the upcoming year, the group plans to reach out more to urban high school students to help them find careers in agriculture.
