Eleven communities in the Heartland region will receive 2.1-million dollars in funding for a Broadband project that they're pursuing.

The community partners are developing a wireless Broadband Network within the Central Plains/Heartland Regions.

One of the municipal partners is the RM of Grey.

Reeve Ted Tkachyk says its an ambitious undertaking that will give all of his ratepayers access to high speed internet.

Tkachyk says about 30 towers will be erected at a cost of about 18-thousand dollars per tower.

He says the infrastructure money will cover off a good portion of that cost.

The Broadband Network will have the potential to reach up to 20-thousand residents, 35 public institutions and 500 local businesses.
