When air is pushed upward into the atmosphere it creates a lift, which resulted in this mornings thunderstorm.

Dale Marciski with Environment Canada says records show thunderstorms have occurred every month of the year, but on in October is still rare.

Marciski says there is a low pressure system is forming over North Dakota which is pushing a lot of moisture towards Manitoba.

Today's warm temperatures are a result of the warm front which is in front of the low pressure system.

Marciski says by tonight the wind will become a strong north wind, gusting up to 60 km/h.
