The Town of Altona has been awarded the 2023 Manitoba Good Roads Association CAA Manitoba Shield Award in the category for Beautification Competition Urban Centres with a population of 2,001-7,500.

Previously having won in 2012, 2016, 2020, this is the town's fourth time earning the award. It was presented to officials during the recent Association of Manitoba Municipalities Spring Conference in Brandon.

"The Town of Altona recognizes the importance of investing in transportation and infrastructure," noted a news release. "This means preserving and improving local roads, active transportation (sidewalks, trails, etc.), and ensuring the safety and accessibility of Altona."

In fact, Council has set aside $1 million for road repairs and infrastructure in the 2024 Financial Plan.
