With temperatures, so far, in November fluctuating on both sides of freezing, Altona's Recreation department is reminding residents to stay off the thin ice at the Buffalo Creek Nature Pond.  According to officials with the department, as temperatures have become cooler, a thin layer of ice has formed on some parts of the pond, but it is not thick enough for people to be on it.

They are asking all residents to stay off the ice until further notice. The Rec Department will advise when it's safe to enjoy winter-time fun on the pond.
