It was an expensive trip for an American couple from South Carolina planning to vacation in Manitoba.

Customs officers at Emerson found 3 loaded handguns in the motorhome the couple was travelling in as they were attempting to enter the province.

Nyhus says there's no indication the couple had any intention of selling the guns in Canada.

She says however, they were fined for a total of $6500 for not declaring the weapons.

So far this year, Canada Border Services has made 15 gun siezures in Manitoba, confiscating a total of 18 firearms.
