Blue Sky Opportunities General Manager Richard Neufeld

It was a full house at last night's Blue Sky Opportunities annual fundraising supper in Altona. General Manager Richard Neufeld says the supper is the largest fundraising event of the year for the organization, adding it heavily rely's on the income generated from it. He says last night's dinner was sold out with 320 tickets sold and the funds raised from it will be used to pay off a brand new transportation van they received a week ago.

During the dinner Neufeld highlighted how the past year has been for Blue Sky and noted it's been extremely busy with a large demand in services with more people needing support. He adds the organization currently has requests put in for two more homes in Altona as well, and it continues to work towards adding a new building. Meanwhile, it's been a year since the organization announced it was changing it's name from A.D.A.M.H to Blue Sky Opportunities and Neufeld says the response has been positive.

As for what the coming year holds for Blue Sky, Neufeld says they will work at automating it's recycling process adding they are working with people that are aging and the procedures it uses are somewhat outdated. Those changes would include adding conveyor belts so people don't have to bend down to do the sorting.  Neufeld adds the chain assembly is also getting quite busy and they have make sure they are effectively set up to manage that volume.
