The Winkler Police Service was kept busy over the Thanksgiving long weekend.

Inspector Brad Kehler says they responded to an accident Monday at the corner of Highway 32 and North Railway.

He says when they arrived at the scene they found a traffic light standard knocked over and an overturned vehicle.

Kehler says a 45 year old male from Winkler has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident, driving while suspended, driving a motor vehicle without owner's consent and resisting arrest.

He says they were also involved in a pursuit early Saturday morning.

Winkler Police called other detachments for assistance as they followed the vehicle east out of Winkler on Highway 14 and then north on PR 428.

They finally managed to corner the suspect on a farmyard.

An 18 year old male from Miami has been charged with impaired driving, dangerous driving, flight from a police officer and driving a vehicle without the owner's consent.

Kehler says they also followed up on leads from the Citizens on Patrol and civilians involving noise complaints and suspicious vehicles.

He says these tips resulted in a number of charges under the Liquor Control Act.

Kehler says they also charged one individual with driving under the influence thanks to a tip from a motorist.
