Visitors to Carman Collegiate may soon notice a new piece of medical equipment, an automatic external defibrillator.

Principal Jack Phillips says with increased traffic at the school, due to the theatre, dance clubs, and other activities, the equipment makes sense.

Monday to Friday, during school hours, Carman Collegiate may be occupied by  teenagers, but the school is used by many residents outside that time frame.

The Carman Area Foundation board agreed, and granted $2300 for an A.E.D.

Phillips notes they also have sponsorship for the A.E.D. from  the Prairie Rose School Division, the collegiate, and Carman Elementary.

He adds with the partners, all expenses will be covered, including some training for staff.
