A fire destroyed Boundary Trail Store in Reinland this morning.

Resident Helen Peters says it's a real loss for the community.

She says the business had a number of owners over the years including her parents.

Peters says she recalls going to the store to by the little bottles of Coke and candy.

The fire gutted the building which was later knocked down to help put out the flames.

Another local resident, Conrad Zacharias says the flames ignited some fireworks that had been stored inside the building.

He adds it was a popular place to be as people visited there over morning coffee and lunch.

Winkler Fire Department responded to the call just before 6:00 this morning.

Deputy Fire Chief Henry Derksen says they had to take down the building as a precaution.

Derksen says the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

He says there were no injuries and no surrounding buildings were damaged.
