The China-born coronavirus has not yet had a detrimental impact on HyLife’s exportation of pork overseas.

Though HyLife does have strong connections to the Chinese pork market, Spokesperson Kevin Geisheimer says the company has been only minimally affected by the sudden outbreak of the virus.

“Right now business is as usual at HyLife,” he states, “but we have currently suspended travel to and from China.”

As of Friday, Geisheimer notes, HyLife employees from both China and North America were prohibited from traveling between countries as a precaution. The flow of goods, however, has not been disrupted.

“All of our shipments of pork are moving into China like usual, so that hasn’t changed.”

Still, he says, his company is paying very close attention to the development of the illness and is ready to take further action if necessary.

“We are obviously taking the coronavirus very seriously. Safety and health are very important to our employees here at HyLife and we want to ensure that all of our employees are protected and supported.”
