The 2021 Decor Charity Classic is expected to bring in the highest amount ever raised from the annual golf tournament.

The total was still being tallied as of interview time Friday morning, but Dave Schellenberg, Chief Financial Officer for Decor Cabinets, said the event should bring in just over $93,000 to be split between Pembina Valley Pregnancy Care Centre, Pembina Counselling Centre, and The Warehouse Drop-in.

"It's a huge deal," he said, noting each charity will receive about $31,000. "I think it makes a big difference in the ministries and the services that they provide. I think it's a significant part of their budget as well, so we were happy to partner with them and the great work that they do."

Thursday's tournament drew 125 registered golfers, and marked the successful return of the event after the pandemic forced a change of plans in 2020.

"It went great, as far as I know," noted Schellenberg, adding participants offered up positive feedback, indicating they enjoyed the day.

"It was a little bit different in that we couldn't hold a banquet after...we were really happy with the turn out, the sponsorships and the amount raised," said Schellenberg. "Even the weather, I was expecting it to be thirty-five degrees, dry and sunny and then it was one of the first days we didn't have that," he added, noting the weather made for more comfortable conditions.

Decor Cabinets matches 50 per cent of the net proceeds from the tournament, up to $50,000.
