Did you catch the announcement on Wednesday’s Manitoba Farm Journal? The grand prize winner of the Meridian GrainMax 3000 hopper bottom bin from CFAM’s Farmer Appreciation Lunch is Dennis Rempel who farms south and west of Lowe Farm. Morning Show Host Chris Sumner surprised him with the call, and Dennis was quick to point out his good start to the day had just got even better.

You can listen to the full conversation below.

"My son is farming as well," noted Dennis who is into his 41st growing season this year. "We're growing wheat, oats, canola and soybeans."

2024 is a much different growing season than last year.

"It's way different, yeah, different challenges this year than in the past, but the crops look really good," he shared.

And what about all the rain we've seen so far this Spring and Summer?

"For the most part, we've managed okay," he said. "The wheat, oats and canola were in early, so they were bigger when we got the bigger rains. They're not stressed like the the later crops would be, like in our case, it's the soybeans (that are stressed). We were better off than a lot of areas."

Our friends at Meridian will be delivering the bin to Dennis Rempel very soon, and again congratulations on winning as well as a big thank you for joining us.
