A candidate has stepped forward to run for reeve in the R.M. of Stanley in the October 26th municipal election. Current Deputy Reeve for the RM of Stanley Ike Friesen says he has collected the required signatures to run and is ready to submit his papers to run.

Friesen was first elected as a councillor in the RM of Stanley in 2018 and has served as Deputy Reeve for the last year and a half.

"I've quite enjoyed working on council and with the staff that's there and making decisions for the whole RM. We're in a really growing area and there's a lot of requests for developments and growth in the area, so I really enjoy it and it's fun to see and be a part of."

To run for reeve only one term after being first elected onto council was not something Friesen said he expected he would be doing.

"I had actually not expected that at all. I ran then because I thought it was something that intrigued me, I wanted to do it, and I've done it now for four years and enjoyed it a lot. I think I still have something to contribute...I just got my feet wet on being Deputy Reeve, so it's been good."

Friesen believes his knowledge and close involvement with multiple key projects in the RM make him an excellent candidate to be the next Reeve for Stanley.

Current Reeve, Morris Olafson will not be seeking re-election.
