A number of issues were addressed at the Carman All-Candidate forum last night.

New council candidates Wayne Hiebert and Dwayne Warkentin both feel the business community is a major concern for Carman and would like to work with the R.M. of Dufferin to improve this situation.

Connie Rose, also new to the race, says she feels the experiences she has had in Carman will allow her to contribute to the town.

Ron McClain also feels it is important to work with the R.M. of Dufferin to achieve goals they are working towards.

Allan Boxshall has had many years experience on council and is a strong advocate towards handicap accessibility in the area.

Jane Swanton is the second woman in the history of the town to hold a spot on council and says she will take the town on a progressive path.

And Ed Vandersluis is seeking re-election to keep the young people in Carman as well as meet the needs of seniors in the area.

Residents also heard from the mayoral candidates.

Ron Stanger is a retired Safeway store manager and says in his years of experience, gimmicks work when it comes to attracting people.

Bob Mitchell feels a business plan needs to be implemented with the R.M. of Dufferin to ensure the prosperity of the community.

An issue brought up in the question period to both candidates was the pollution in the Boyne River.

Mitchell says the solution lies within cooperation with the R.M.

Stanger says he has been working on this issue with the La Salle Redboine Conservation District.
