Communities along the Red River say they need more money to deal with the impact of flooding.

Emerson Mayor Wayne Arseny says the current formula the Province uses to provide funding to patch up damage from floods is not enough.

Arseny says King Street in Emerson needs a major upgrade after this year's flood blew out a number of culverts along the roadway.

He says they are proposing larger culverts be installed to help mitigate that kind of damage.

He says the same holds true for their cemetery and golf course.

Arseny says a meeting with Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Steve Ashton has been set up for Thursday to discuss the need for increased funding.
