The President of the Manitoba Corn Growers Association feels producers could support an ethanol plant geared towards the crop.

Gary Unrau notes corn is one of the prime choices for ethanol production due to its high conversion factor.

He adds the key would be pricing opportunities that would encourage production and increase acres.

Unrau stresses obviously the size of the plant would have to match the amount of corn available.

Manitoba's major ethanol producer, Husky Energy in Minnedosa, is expanding but it's main feedstock is feed wheat.
