Rhineland Car in Altona is now a third generation family business. The dealership was started in 1927 by P.L. Dick, and his son's Roy and Earl were left in charge after his sudden death in 1963.

After 50 years at the helm, Roy and Earl have retired, leaving Earl's son Jim to take over. Earl says he is proud of how successful Jim has become and the dealership will do well under his guidance, adding it's important to him to keep the business in the family.

As for advice for Jim on the future, he says "continue treating customers honestly and fairly and you won't go wrong." Meanwhile, Rhineland Car is the second oldest family owned dealership in Manitoba and Dick says it's special for he and Roy to have been a part of that.

As for retirement, Dick says it's wonderful, adding he is enjoying not having to worry about the day to day happenings at the dealership. Meanwhile, Jim, who spent many years on the salesroom floor says the new job comes with more responsibility.

He adds the employees at Rhineland Car are the reason it has won several awards, and he says it's important to look after those who are engaged and making important decisions day to day. Dick says the community will continue to see success coming out of the business in the future.

Dick thanks his Dad and Uncle Roy for all their guidance and helping get to where he is today. He also thanks the employees for working hard making sure customers are looked after.
