A group of international beef producer associations has changed its name, and expanded its mandate.

The Five Nations Beef Alliance, formerly known as the Five Nations Beef Conference, consists of the Canadian Cattlemen's Association plus organizations from the United States, New Zealand, Mexico, and Australia.

Historically the Five Nations Beef Conference focused on trade policy and the overall expansion of demand for beef.

C.C.A. President Hugh Lynch-Staunton says the alliance was very successful on those fronts.

The Alliance's new mandate will focus on expanding market access, improving market security, and working cooperatively on animal welfare and health issues.
