We're getting close to the end of the forage harvest in Southeastern Manitoba.

Greg Braun from Braunsdale Holsteins near Blumenort says they have completed their third cut alfalfa.

Corn silage is in with with very good yields.

Braun also expects to get a fourth cut of alfalfa this year.

Rain this past weekend managed to slow down some of his harvest.

There was a good portion of ryegrass cut down which now needs to dry out.

Meanwhile cattle and forage producer Ron Bachmaier says some grassy fields produced only one cut.

But he did manage a fourth cut of alafalfa.

Bachmaier credits spotty showers throughout the summer which helped some fields make it through in fine shape.

In general yields are down from an average year but the quality is very good.
