Winkler Fire Department responded to two fire calls over the last few days.

The first was Friday morning at 10:53 a.m. to a small rooftop fire on Memorial Drive. Chief Richard Paetzold says when crews arrived they found a heating unit on the roof on fire, with smoke throughout the building.

Power was cut to the unit, which extinguished the fire. The cause has been deemed to be electrical in nature. There were no injuries, and no damage estimate is available.

The second call was Saturday night around 10:20 p.m. to a residential fire on Cambridge Crescent. Paetzold says they found a small fire confined to a bathroom, with smoke throughout the main floor of the residence.

The fire was extinguished, and the smoke was removed from the home. There was smoke damage inside the house, and minor fire damage in the bathroom. The cause is under investigation. There were no injuries.
