Granny's Poultry wants to build a new head office and hatchery in the east end of Winnipeg.

A conditional offer on 8 acres of land in Transcona has been made.

Chief Operating Officer Wayne Morrison says the current hatchery, built in 1988, no longer meets the company's capacity needs.

He says little consideration was given to building outside city limits.

Granny's operates a processing plant near Blumenort.

Morrison states a fairly aggressive time table has been set.

If all goes well he hopes the new building will be operational sometime in 2008.
