Compared to the 2005-06 crop year initials the 2006-07 initials for wheat, feed barley, and two row designated barley are higher.

The Canadian Wheat Board has released the 2006-07 crop year initial payments for the various grades of wheat and barley.

The initial payments, in dollars per tonne, for base grades in each pool are as follows:

Number one Western Red Spring at 12-5 protein $137.50.

Number one Western Amber Durum at 12-5 protein $118.

Number one Western Barley $74 for pool 'A'.

Two row deisgnated barley $117, and six row designated barley is $111.
