Mac Batchelor, Anthony Friesen, Dale Fehr, Mark Hildebrand, Josh Ginter & Brent Laverty celebrate after winning the gold medal this past Sunday in Trois-Rivieres

The junior careers of Pembina Valley Orioles left-hander Anthony Friesen and Altona Bisons ace Mac Batchelor came to an end this past Sunday when they helped the Manitoba Junior Baseball League All-Stars beat the host team 6-4 in the gold medal game at the Canadian Junior "AAA" Baseball Championship in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec. Batchelor got the win as he went five innings allowing seven hits and struckout four. Friesen pitched the last two innings. He gave up three hits and recorded two strikeouts. Batchelor and the rest of the Altona Bisons played in the teams first MJBL final earlier this month. The Bisons were swept by the St. Boniface Legionaires. Friesen established a new single season strike out record in 2010. He fanned 116 batters surpassing the old mark of 115 set by former Elmwood Giants pitcher and Manitoba Baseball Hall of Famer Carey Candy who accomplished the feat more than 30 years ago.
