Many in Southern Manitoba are once again waking up to snow and frost covering their vehicles.

Despite the hassle, RCMP Media Relations Officer Tara Seal explains it's important to take the extra time to clean your vehicle. If you fail to make sure your vision is unobstructed you may be issued a ticket for up to $113.

"We do stress that there is a charge under the Highway Traffic Act, that no person should be driving a vehicle with their view obstructed," she says. "And there is a fine associated with that."

Seal adds it's also important to have winter gear on hand when hitting the roads and to be aware of weather and driving conditions.

"Have windshield washer fluid that is rated for winter use, so you can keep your windshield clean and your line of vision clear," she says. "Make sure you clear all snow and frost from your vehicle before driving, so you can see and be seen. Safety is first and foremost."

Seal also reminds drivers to slow down according to the weather as the posted speed limits are for optimal driving conditions. She adds always allow extra time to make sure you arrive at your destination safely.
