The Liberal candidate in Provencher says he is excited that the election campaign is finally underway. Trevor Kirczenow of Dugald adds he is more than happy to promote the tremendous economic record of the Trudeau government. He notes a big part of the campaign will involve dealing with misinformation that is being spread around, especially on social media. Kirczenow says the hard facts show that Canada is doing very well thanks to the Liberals.

"The economy has been doing really well. Unemployment has been at its lowest rate in the past 40 years under the federal Liberal Government. So I think getting that message out is something that we will have to be really persistent with. You can look at numbers from Stats Canada and you see that so many people have been lifted up out of poverty since 2015 when the federal Liberals took power. You look at changes like that, that are so dramatic, and so positive, I think it's really important to remember those points."

On another matter, Kirczenow says, if elected, he would represent all people in the riding. He explains that means he is committed to attending the annual PRIDE march in Steinbach. He adds it has been a big disappointment in recent years that not one locally elected politician has shown up for the event.

"To have an elected official who will stand with a community, it's just so important. The Steinbach PRIDE parade celebrates diversity and it's also a way to take a stand against violence and discrimination that's directed at the LGBT2 community. So, for me, I think it's incredibly important to have an elected representative from our area who is willing to attend events like that, even if they don't identify as part of that community themselves."

The election will take place on October 21.
