Two members of the Morden Police Service will be participating in the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver.

Town council approved a motion to allow the Constables to be part of the event's security.

Chief Brad Neduzak says this is a great opportunity for the Constables, being part of one of the largest security operations in Canadian history.

He notes they will not only be contributing to the event,  but bringing back an experience to benefit the Morden Police Service and the community.

Years ago members of smaller services like Morden would likely never have been considered to participate in an event of this magnitude.

Neduzak says being asked to take part in the 2010 Olympics says a lot about the officers being trained these days.

He notes residents should not be worried about the local service being short staffed during that time, because the deployment is staggered and varies from two to three weeks.

However, he says it's understood that if situations change, and it's not going to work, the Constables will be asked to remain in Morden.
