If you're itching to wear your old scrunchies and neon tights while dancing to some premiere 80's synth pop entertainment, head to the park stage on Friday during the 2023 Manitoba Sunflower Festival happening in Altona July 28-30.

The headline entertainment for Friday and Saturday evening's shows has been announced, and Revenge of the 80's will hit the stage Friday evening performing hits from that decade rolled up with some slapstick humour.

"It's gonna be an awesome night. It's gonna be a party night," said Nadine Mullenix, co-entertainment coordinator for the festival. "They come with costumes. It's classic 80s - Duran Duran, Corey Hart, Cyndi Lauper - we're gonna have everybody dancing in their seats. They're going to be clapping along, singing along."

The good times will keep on rolling Saturday evening as Manitoba Country artist, Emma Peterson, hits the stage.

"She's an amazing Country artist," noted Laura Smith who also oversees planning the weekend's entertainment.

Peterson is not only known for her captivating performances, but for a powerful voice and all too relatable lyricism. She is consistently recognized as one of Manitoba's most promising young Country stars.

"Her voice is incredible, and her band is so great so, I think everyone's gonna love it," added Smith.

Peterson was nominated for 5 Manitoba Country Music Association awards in 2022 and took home the award for Interactive Artist of the Year and Album of the Year.

"We sort of thought it would be so cool to have a female artist (perform) on the Queen Quest pageant evening," said Smith.

And what is the pair most looking forward to during the upcoming festival?

"I'm just looking forward to the community getting together and just having a great time," said Mullenix.

"The music, obviously," chuckled Smith. "But also the roll kuchen and the community aspect. It's only my second festival, so I'm excited to see it again."
