Valley Fiber is taking their efforts to the next level with a major investment from Amsterdam-based DIF Capital Partners.

DIF and Valley Fiber have sealed the deal on a majority investment to expand the fiber network in Manitoba, with aims to connect 15,000 homes and businesses over the next two years. Valley Fiber currently operates in more than 20 municipalities in Manitoba.

While they've secured multiple agreements from municipalities and communities, "we've been always been missing that private partner," Valley Fiber CEO, Hank Wall, explains.

"It's been really important to us to make sure we're still able to build out a fiber build the way we feel is best. This is our backyard, this is our community, we've stepped up to improve the quality of life... it's extremely important that vision and passion continues."

He says the capital raised will help build out the many rural communities in Southern Manitoba currently on the list for fiber optic connection.

"It means your rural communities... will have the exact same access to fiber-optic infrastructure as your urban centres, and our footprint will be very rapidly expanding," Wall says. "What you've seen for announcements is just the beginning. There's a lot more to come."

DIF Capital Partners is a global independent infrastructure fund manager, with €7.4 billion of assets under management.
