Police say an Alberta resident is unable to offer any resonable explanation for driving into the Morden Motor Inn.

Early Saturday, September 2, Morden Police Service received a 9-1-1 call stating someone had driven into the local inn and caused extensive damage.

The indivdual had driven through one of the rooms on the South side of the building and departed the scene.

"We attended to find the front window of one of the rooms completely pushed in," said Police Chief Brad Neduzak.

Thankfully, police say, no one was inside the room at the time and there we no injuries as a result of the accident.

A description of the suspect vehicle was provided by witnesses and a follow up investigation led police to an individual who was staying in one of the rooms. Police were able to speak to the driver of the vehicle who was already in Saskatchewan and on his way back home to Alberta.

However, police say the man was unable to offer any reasonable explanation for the accident, other than he must have blacked out.

A statement has since been obtained from the driver by the RCMP in Alberta along with photos of the damage to the suspect vehicle.

Police are continuing their investigation with charges to follow.
