An artist from Glenboro is quickly becoming known as one of Canada's top western artists.

Kim Penner was named best flat artist at this year's Calgary Stampede Sale Salon Western Art Show.

Show co-chair Georgia Desmarias says the Sale Salon Show is possibly the most prestigious western art show in Canada.

She says Penner's work continues to get better every year.

The jury-judged show featured 43 different artists from across North America.

Awards were also handed out for best 3-D art and best display.
