Mary Dyck, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, went to be with her Lord and Saviour at the age of 92 years and 9 days at the MacGregor Personal Carehome on November 4th, 2023.
Mom was born on October 26,1931 in Saskatchewan to her parents Corney and Susie Friesen. In 1952, Mom was baptized upon the confession of her faith. On August 8, 1954 Mom married the love of her life, Abe Dyck in Aberdeen Saskatchewan. Mom and Dad soon moved to St. Laurent, Manitoba where they purchased a farm. They were blessed with 7 children. Our mother prayed for her family and taught them all to love and serve the Lord.
In 1977 Dad and Mom moved with their family to the farm at Austin. Mom always made everyone feel welcome to stay for a meal. Her soup and pie were the best. Her highlight was preparing and having her family home for meals. Our mother was a farm girl at heart. She always had a big garden, she would sew blankets, and knitted slippers and mittens for the grandchildren.
On August 27th, 2016 they moved to the Everygreen Place in Austin. During their time in Austin, Mom had a slight stroke, she was then admitted to Portage Hosptial
for 3 weeks, and from there she was transferred to Gladstone Hospital to be reunited with Dad. On February 3, 2021 they both moved to their final residence at The Macgregor Personal Care Home.
The family found a note that mom had written in one of her books. "But thou when thou prayest enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which seeth in secret and thy father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. Pray ye, Our father which art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name. Mother Dyck.
She is survived by: Corney (Linda), Bill (Linda), Betty (John), Marge (Ed), Sus (Dave), Frank (Rhonda), John (Susan). 23 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, 4 bothers, 6 sisters-in-law, 1 brother-in-law. Mom was predeceased by: her parents Corney and Susie Friesen, her husband Abe, 2 great granddaughters. The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks for all the staff at Gladstone Hospital, and Macgregor Personal care home for all the compassionate care they have given mom.
