"Every year we get a little bit bigger, a little bit better."

That from Miami Fair and Rodeo Organizer Jan Moody.

She notes the rodeo, put on by the Heartland Rodeo Association, remains a highlight for the many festival goers that flock to Miami from across the region every summer.

"We don't have a lot of rodeos out in this area... so it's really worth your while to come and take it in."

Miami Ag Society President Troy Turner explains 2019 marks the 26th year since the addition of the rodeo to the annual fair. "It's just been such a great venture with the rodeo, we just love it."

"Heartland is all about family," Turner adds. "You see dads competing, moms competing and the kids as well, and it's a great family event for everyone who comes to watch."

Other activities included community baseball, food booths and the annual Duck Race fundraiser. This year funds were donated to the Miami Post Secondary School.

"We're really proud of our event," Moody says. "We have lots of volunteers that put it on, they put a lot of work into it... and there's something for everyone."

The fair is celebrating its 112th year and took place last weekend in Miami.
