Pembina Valley RCMP and Winkler Fire Department responded to a two-vehicle collision Canada Day evening around 9:10 p.m. on Highway 14 at the Gardenland Co-op truck stop and gas bar intersection.

According to RCMP, the initial investigation has determined a vehicle was westbound on Highway 14 when the driver switched lanes, and proceeded to turn at the Co-op intersection. The vehicle behind him was unable to stop and rear-ended him.

The driver of the vehicle which rear-ended the first making the turn, a 66-year-old male, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The other driver, a 21-year-old male, was issued a ticket under the Highway Traffic Act for failing to provide sufficient warning of intent to turn.

RCMP say the investigation ongoing.
