A walk to raise money in support of the Kidney Foundation of Manitoba was held Sunday in Morden.

"So, we had our best year in Morden ever that we've ever raised," said Courtney Maddock, Manager of Development at the Kidney Foundation. "We raised just over $12,000, which is so exciting. People raised money from their friends and family. But we also had a Mexican Fiesta fundraiser hosted by Helen Wall and she raised an incredible amount of money and I was there last night (Saturday), it was an incredible event...it was so great."

Maddock says money raised through the kidney walks fund patient services and programs, sends kids to kidney camp, and funds research. "We fund support groups, and people going through dialysis really need extra support. We also fund education and we do financial support as well...We're really here to help people make their lives easier."

A former resident of Morden, Maddock says it's always so nice to be home. She said it is great to come back to her home community and see home the people support something she's involved with.

"You know, there's a lot of walks out there, and a lot of people support different charities, but to come back and see people support it (Kidney Walk), it's pretty great."
