It's been a busy two weeks for members of the Morden Police Service. 
    
Speeding was one of the top two infractions during this time with over $1,400 in fines doled out over four tickets - all for driving over the 100 km/h posted speed limit. 
    
Tying for top infraction was failing to move over and reduce to proper speed while passing an emergency vehicle in which four tickets were handed out, each with a fine of $298.
    
Police also doled out three tickets each for unlawfully transporting alcoholic beverages in a motor vehicle, disobeying a red light and disobeying a stop sign. 
    
Two tickets each were issued for unlawful transportation of cannabis in or on a vehicle, driving without a valid license and driving an unregistered vehicle 
    
One ticket was handed out each for driving while disqualified, using a cellphone while driving. 

Meantime, three drivers were dealt impaired driving related fines during this period. 

While on general patrol on July 1st, police conducted a traffic stop and detected an odor of liquor coming from the driver. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a warn reading. The driver was issued a 90 day driving suspension and a 30 day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $700 administrative penalty. 

Then on July 3rd, while on general patrol, police conducted a traffic stop and detected an odor of liquor coming from the driver. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which resulted in a warn reading. The driver was issued a 72hr driving suspension and a 3 day impoundment of the vehicle along with a $400 administrative penalty

On July 5th at 10:45pm, police received a call of a single vehicle collision. When police attended, they observed vehicle parts and leaking fluid leading away from the scene. Police located the damaged vehicle and attended to the residence. 23-year-old male who was visibly intoxicated with slurred speech, heavy odor of liquor and bloodshot eyes. The accused confirmed he had been driving and was arrested for impaired driving and released on an Undertaking to appear in Morden Provincial Court in September

Meantime, another driver was charged with Refusal to Comply with a breath demand and issued a ticket for unlawful transportation of liquor in a motor vehicle which carries a fine of $237. While on general patrol on July 1st, police observed a vehicle swerve within its lane. Police conducted a traffic stop and observed a large open bottle of Corona in the vehicle. Police made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of their breath on the Roadside Screening device which was refused.
